Xinxing Senior High School

Xinxing Senior High traces its origins to April 1, 1937, when it opened during the Japanese colonial era as Takao Girls' Vocational School (高雄女子技藝學校). Over the following decades it was renamed several times — Kaohsiung Shuktoku Girls' School in 1938, Practical Commercial School in 1942, Kaohsiung Shuktoku Girls' Middle School in 1945, and Kaohsiung Municipal Girls' Middle School in 1948 — before becoming Kaohsiung Municipal Xinxing Junior High School in 1968. In 2001 it was reorganized into a complete junior-and-senior-high school and took its present name. Today the school's music class is affiliated with the Kaohsiung Youth Symphony Orchestra.

新興高中的校史可追溯至1937年（昭和12年）4月1日，日治時期創校時名為「高雄女子技藝學校」，其後歷經多次更名——1938年「高雄淑德女子學校」、1942年「實踐商業學校」、1945年「高雄淑德女子中學」、1948年「高雄市立女子中學」——並於民國57年（1968年）改制為「高雄市立新興國民中學」。民國90年（2001年）改制為完全中學，正式定名「高雄市立新興高級中學」。學校音樂班現與高雄市青年交響樂團合作。
