Xinsheng Junior High opened in 1966 as "臺東縣立臺東第一初級中學" (Taitung County Taitung First Junior High School) and was renamed Xinsheng in 1968. Today it serves roughly 1,400 students across 53 classes, making it one of the larger junior highs in Taitung City. Between 1973 and 1999 the school built out thirteen specialized program classes covering fine arts, physical education, music, and special education, and it maintains a rich extracurricular life spanning baseball, Indigenous dance, wind band, and choir.
新生國中創校於1966年（民國55年），初名「臺東縣立臺東第一初級中學」，1968年更為現名。目前全校約1,400名學生，共53個班級，是臺東市規模較大的國中之一。1973年至1999年間，學校陸續設立13個特色班，涵蓋美術、體育、音樂、特殊教育等領域，並發展出棒球、原住民舞蹈、管樂團、合唱團等豐富的課外活動。
