新嘉國小創校於民國54年(1965年),校地1.1公頃,座落於八掌溪畔的新嘉里,四周為農田環繞的偏遠聚落。至今仍是後壁區規模最小的學校之一,約有普通班6班、幼兒園1班,近年學生人數約86人。
