From agricultural training school to industrial campus.
National Hsinhua Vocational High School was founded in April 1926, during the Japanese colonial era, as "Tainan Prefecture Xinhua Agricultural Supplementary School," training agricultural technicians for the Xinhua region. It was renamed "Tainan Prefecture Xinhua Agricultural Specialized School" in 1931, became "Tainan County Xinhua First Junior Agricultural Vocational School" in 1946, and "Tainan County Xinhua Junior Agricultural Vocational School" in 1949, undergoing roughly seven subsequent reorganizations as it shifted through electrical/electronics and mechanical departments on its way to today's industrial vocational school. It briefly ran a comprehensive-high-school track from 2004 to 2016 before reverting fully to vocational departments, and now offers eight vocational departments, three practical-skills programs, a special-needs vocational competency department, and a continuing-education electronics division.

From farm-market town to heritage destination.
This century-old vocational institution's agricultural roots mirror Xinhua's own identity as a farm-market town before its transition into a heritage and tourism destination centered on its well-preserved Japanese-era old street. See the Tainan county page for more on the region.
