Hsinhu Junior High School

Hsinhu Junior High School was approved for establishment in June 1968. Wang Yu-shu, then-principal of Hukou Junior High, oversaw the preparatory work, and Liang Ji-sheng was appointed the school's first principal on July 2, 1968. The school opened its doors on September 9, 1968, with six classes and 332 students, on a campus of roughly 9,000-plus ping in Xinshi Village. In 1982, the Taiwan Provincial Education Department designated Hsinhu as a specialized development school for handball, a distinction that has shaped its athletics program ever since.

新湖國中於民國57年（1968年）6月奉准成立，由時任湖口國中校長王玉樹負責籌備工作，梁繼盛先生於同年7月2日奉派為首任校長。學校於9月9日正式開學，首年招收6個班級、332名學生，校地位於信勢村，面積約九千餘坪。民國71年（1982年），台灣省教育廳指定新湖國中為手球發展重點學校，自此手球運動成為學校體育特色之一。
