Growth tied to a railway station's move.
Hsinhu Elementary School was founded in 1932 during the Japanese colonial era as "Shin-Kou-Kou Public School" (新湖口公學校). Its predecessor institution built an assembly hall in 1938, which was designated a Hsinchu County heritage site in 2018 for its historic and architectural value. The school's growth was closely tied to the 1929 relocation of Hukou Train Station to the nearby Xiabeishi area, which drew population and development to the school's catchment. Today the school faces the opposite challenge of its early years — overcrowding, driven by continued population growth in the area.
