Xingang Elementary School

Xingang Elementary traces its origin to January 1898, when it was established as "嘉義國語傳習所新南港分教場," opening its doors on September 1 of that year. This makes it the oldest modern school in Xingang Township and one of the oldest in Chiayi County, with a history spanning over 125 years. The school has been renamed several times through the Japanese colonial and postwar periods before arriving at its present name, and it sits directly beside Fengtian Temple (奉天宮) — the town's famous Matsu temple — placing it at the literal center of Xingang's most important cultural landmark.

新港國小的歷史可追溯至明治31年（1898年）1月，創立時名為「嘉義國語傳習所新南港分教場」，同年9月1日正式開學。這使它成為新港鄉歷史最悠久的現代學校，也是嘉義縣歷史最悠久的學校之一，校史超過125年。學校歷經日治與戰後時期多次更名，最終定名為今日的新港國小，校址就緊鄰新港的信仰地標──奉天宮，與這座媽祖廟共享同一街區已逾百年。
