An open campus among Anping's heritage sites.
Ximen Experimental Elementary shares its origin with Shimen Elementary, both descending from the 1900 Anping Public School's primary division, before becoming independently organized as "Anping Ordinary Elementary School" in 1913. It took its current site in 1939, on the former British Consulate grounds, and became "Ximen Experimental Elementary School" in 2017. Its new campus (2004–2007) was designed as a wall-free, open campus in deliberate dialogue with neighboring historic sites — the Tait & Co. Merchant House, Anping Tree House, and Anping Old Fort — winning the 2007 Yuan Ye Award and the National Award for Excellence in Architectural Planning. The school runs Taiwan's first full-immersion English program among public elementary schools, branded "Ximen goes global" (西門斜槓世界).

The campus sits literally next to Anping Tree House and the old British Consulate/Tait & Co. merchant house, blending schoolyard and heritage site.
📜 A Shared Root with Shimen Elementary
與石門國小同源
Both schools trace back to the original 1900 Anping Public School before splitting into separate institutional lines in 1913.
Schoolyard and heritage site, side by side.
The campus sits literally next to Anping Tree House and the old British Consulate/Tait & Co. merchant house, and its open, wall-free design was explicitly conceived to visually and physically connect the school with Anping's cluster of Dutch, Qing, and British colonial-era heritage sites. See the Tainan county page for more on the region.
