A school founded inside a legendary temple.

Xiangong Elementary began in September 1952 as a branch class of Zhenhai National School, initially holding classes in the side rooms of Lu'ermen Tianhou Temple It became fully independent as "Xiangong National School" in August 1956 under founding principal Ye Zhi-xiong. The first classrooms — three bamboo huts — were built directly on temple grounds in 1953, with permanent buildings following in 1955. By 1972, the temple's increasing ritual activity prompted a relocation; the Taiwan Alkali Company donated former dormitory and sports-field land for a new campus, which opened in 1980.
