A meeting point of cultures on the coast.

Xianglan Elementary opened in 1955 as a branch of Dawang School, became independent in 1962, and was reorganized into its current form as an elementary school in 1968. The school serves both Old and New Xianglan villages, home to a mix of Paiwan, Amis, Hoklo, and Hakka residents — a diversity that reflects the layered settlement history of Taimali's coast. Like many small rural schools, Xianglan has seen enrollment fall sharply in recent years, down to around 32 students, and it has turned to tools like a 360-degree virtual campus tour to keep connecting with families and the wider community.
