The highest school in the county, in the heart of Rukai country.
Wutai Elementary dates to 1927, founded during the Japanese colonial era in what is now the historic heartland of Rukai culture. In 2021 the school became an indigenous experimental education school (原住民族實驗教育學校), and it also operates the Ligulily Branch Campus, established in 2013 and opened in 2014 on Culture Street in Wutai Village. The school is often cited as the elementary school at the highest elevation in Pingtung County, its campus set among mountain clouds and surrounded by slate carving and Rukai ancestor-lily motifs woven through the village around it.
