Named for the man who opened Yilan.
Wusha Junior High began in 1974 as a branch campus of Jiaoxi Junior High School (礁溪國中吳沙分部), becoming independent in 1977 as Yilan County Wusha Junior High School. The school takes its name from Wu Sha (吳沙), the legendary Han pioneer leader who led the first organized Han Chinese settlement expedition into the Lanyang Plain via Toucheng in the late 18th century. Today the school maintains active sports programs and an online teaching platform, along with anti-bullying and mental-health support hotlines for students.
