A century of history, told through a traditional house.
Wuling Elementary was founded in 1922 under Japanese colonial rule, originally as an educational institute for Aboriginal children — making it, alongside Haiduan Elementary, one of the two oldest schools serving Bunun Indigenous areas of Taitung County. The school has been renamed multiple times over the past century, settling on its current name in 1968. Today it maintains a dedicated Bunun Cultural Resource Center, and — notably — has built a traditional Bunun house on campus that is used for actual tribal ceremonies, not merely displayed as a museum piece.
