More than a century on the Lanyang Plain.
Wujie Elementary opened in 1911, during the Japanese colonial era, as the "Luodong Public School Wujie Branch." It was later renamed Wujie Public School and then Wujie National School, and recently passed its 110th anniversary. The school's motto, "五育齊全、結朋共學" — a wordplay built from the characters in the name Wujie — captures its emphasis on well-rounded development and learning together. Locally, the school is nicknamed "the pearl of the Lanyang Plain," a reference to an old camphor and parasol tree on its grounds. Today it runs an active brass band program and offers both Indigenous and Hokkien mother-tongue instruction.
