Wuhe Elementary began in 1951 as a branch class of Ruisui Elementary School, was upgraded to a branch school later that same year, and became fully independent in 1954. It took its current name in 1968. The school is located in Wuhe Village, a highland plateau renowned across Taiwan for its tea plantations, overlooking the scenic Xiuguluan River valley below — one of the most photographed agricultural landscapes in Hualien County.
舞鶴國小的前身是民國40年（1951年）設立的瑞穗國小分班，同年升格為分校，民國43年（1954年）正式獨立設校，民國57年（1968年）定名為現名。學校位於舞鶴村，這片高地台地以茶園聞名全台，俯瞰下方景色壯麗的秀姑巒溪河谷——是花蓮縣境內最常被拍攝的農業景觀之一。
