Wuchang Junior High School

Wuchang Junior High School was established in 1983, following a preparatory office set up the year before. The school's own history pages note that its land was originally vegetable gardens and melon trellises before construction began. Its first cohort, enrolled in 1985, comprised thirteen classes — seven boys' classes and six girls' classes, reflecting the still-segregated class structure common at the time.

Today Wuchang markets itself as an "International Bilingual Curriculum School," part of Taipei's broader push for bilingual programs in public junior highs. The campus sits near Rongxing Flower Garden Park and MRT Zhongshan Junior High School Station, in a neighborhood that shifted rapidly from semi-rural land to dense housing through the 1980s.

五常國中於1982年（民國71年）成立籌備處，1983年（民國72年）正式創校。校方沿革資料指出，校地原為菜園與瓜棚，經整地後始建校舍。1985年首屆新生入學，共13班（男生7班、女生6班），呈現當時仍常見的男女分班制度。

如今五常國中以「國際雙語課程學校」自我定位，呼應臺北市推動公立國中雙語課程的政策方向。校園鄰近榮星花園公園及捷運中山國中站，這一帶在1980年代由半農地迅速轉變為密集住宅區。
