Wenzheng Elementary School's exact founding date has not been confirmed in available records. In 2008, the then-Tainan County government proposed merging the nearby Zongye Elementary School (總爺國小, located on the grounds of the old Meiji Sugar Company refinery) into Wenzheng, sparking local opposition and the formation of an "Anti-Merger Action Alliance." Zongye was ultimately shut down, and its former campus became part of today's Zongye Art and Cultural Center. Wenzheng itself maintains dedicated programs in gender-equality education, health promotion, family education, environmental education, disaster-prevention education, and anti-bullying education.
