Wenshan Senior High School was founded in 1969 as 'Kaohsiung County Wenshan Junior High School.' The following year, it relocated to its permanent campus on land donated by the Fengshan Tropical Horticulture Experiment Station. Between 1999 and 2000 it became a complete secondary school, adding senior-high grades alongside its original junior high. The campus sits beside Chengqing Lake, one of Kaohsiung's best-known scenic reservoirs.
文山高中創立於1969年（民國58年），初名「高雄縣立文山國民中學」。隔年遷至現址，校地由鳳山熱帶園藝試驗分所捐贈。1999至2000年間增設高中部，成為兼具國、高中部的完全中學。校園緊鄰澄清湖，是高雄著名的風景區水庫之一。
