Named for the god of literature, now a bilingual pioneer.
Wenchang Junior High traces its roots to 1956, when it opened as a Taoyuan branch of Daxi Junior High School. It became an independent school in 1959 as "Taoyuan County Wenchang Junior Middle School," and was converted into a full junior high with the 1968 nine-year compulsory education reform. In 1992 it took on responsibility for the junior-high supplementary program at the Taoyuan Boys' Reformatory, and it now operates as a "bilingual innovation school" (雙語創新學校). Its name honors Wenchang Dijun (文昌帝君), the Chinese deity of literature and scholarship, reflecting a naming convention common to schools in older Taiwanese urban districts.
