Taiwan's first Truku experimental school.
In 2017, Wanrong Elementary made history as the first school in Taiwan to formally establish a "Truku Indigenous Experimental Education" program — a distinct educational track built specifically around Truku identity and knowledge. Rather than treating Indigenous culture as an add-on subject, the school reorganized its curriculum around "Gaya," the traditional Truku code of conduct that governs relationships, ethics, and community life. Students have even recreated traditional Truku dwellings on campus, turning the school itself into a living classroom for cultural continuity.
