Wanfu Elementary was founded in 1927 during the Japanese colonial era as the "Dazhou Public School Hongchai Forest Branch." It became independent in 1943 as "Sanxing East National School," but a severe typhoon in 1942 had already caused catastrophic flooding that destroyed the original campus, forcing a relocation. After Taiwan's retrocession in 1945, the school was renamed the following year, and it took its current name, Wanfu Elementary School, in 1968.
萬富國小創立於日治時期民國16年（1927年），初名「大洲公學校橫材分校」。民國32年（1943年）獨立設校，改稱「三星東國民學校」，然而民國31年（1942年）一場強颱曾造成嚴重洪災，沖毀原校舍，迫使遷校。台灣光復後（1945年）翌年更名，至民國57年（1968年）定為現名「萬富國小」。
