Wanfang Senior High School was founded in 1980 as Wanfang Junior High School. In 1998 it was converted into a complete senior/junior high school, enrolling its first senior-high class in 1999 — a change made specifically to give Wenshan District students, especially boys, a local public senior-high option they previously had to travel outside the district to find.
The campus is built across multiple hillside terraces connected by walkways, reflecting Wenshan's sloped terrain, and sits next to Taipei Municipal Wanfang Hospital, near the Wanfang Hospital MRT Station that opened in 1996. The school's motto centers on "Science, Information, Humanities."
萬芳高中創立於1980年（民國69年），初名萬芳國中，1998年（民國87年）改制為完全中學，1999年招收第一屆高中部學生——此舉旨在讓文山區學子（尤其是男學生）擁有就近就讀的公立高中選擇，不必再跨區求學。
校園依山勢分建多層臺地，以廊道相連，呼應文山區的丘陵地形；緊鄰臺北市立萬芳醫院，鄰近1996年通車的萬芳醫院捷運站。校訓以「科學、資訊、人文」為核心。
