From agricultural school to modern junior high.
Wandan Junior High traces its history back to April 26, 1921, when it was founded as “Wandan Simple Agricultural School” (萬丹簡易農業學校) during the Japanese colonial era. It was renamed Wandan Agricultural Continuing School the following year, and after Taiwan's 1945 retrocession became Pingtung City Junior Agricultural School. In October 1950, when Pingtung became a county, it was renamed Pingtung County Wandan Junior Middle School, and it took its present name, Wandan Junior High School, on August 1, 1968, under the nine-year compulsory education reform. Having passed through four official name changes over more than a century, the school stands as one of the oldest educational institutions in the Wandan area, mirroring Taiwan's own educational history from agricultural vocational roots to a modern junior high.
