Waiseh Elementary was founded in March 1918, during the Japanese colonial era, as a small rural school. It remains a modest, traditional campus today, offering both regular classes and a Waldorf-inspired experimental education track (華德福實驗教育). The school is surrounded by the Wujiutong Mountain Trail, Houmiankeng Trail, and Caozaiqi Trail, and is often described as shaded by old trees in a garden-like setting.
外社國小創校於大正7年（1918年）3月，日治時期即已設立，為一所小型鄉村學校。校園至今仍保持樸實風貌，除一般班外，並開設華德福實驗教育班。學校四周環繞五酒桶山步道、後面坑步道與草仔崎步道等登山步道，校園老樹成蔭，宛如花園。
