Today, Waipu runs an arts-immersion curriculum program alongside its regular studies, serving the coastal-adjacent farming community of Waipu.
外埔國小的淵源可追溯至明治30年（1897年），於大正7年（1918年）以分校形式正式成立，大正11年（1922年）獨立設校。學校以「百年風華，璀璨外埔」為口號慶祝建校百週年里程碑，見證超過一世紀的持續辦學。如今，外埔國小在正規課程之外，也推動藝術浸潤課程，服務後龍沿海鄰近的外埔農村社區。
