Ziqiang Junior High was founded on August 6, 1980. It initially borrowed classroom space at Zili Elementary School before its own campus — built on a former pond site of roughly 2.3 hectares — was completed in December 1981. Located in the Neili/Ziqiang Li area of Zhongli, the school became municipal on December 25, 2014.
自強國中創立於民國69年（1980年）8月6日，初期借用自立國小教室，直到1981年12月自有校舍完工，校地約2.3公頃，原為魚塭池塘用地。學校位於中壢內壢／自強里一帶，2014年12月25日改制為市立學校。
