Zhongxing Elementary began on May 18, 1921, as a branch school under Yuanshulin Public School, becoming independent in 1928 and taking its current name in 1945. The school celebrated its 100th anniversary and has been praised by Taiwan's Minister of Education as ranking among the nation's top five small schools. Its campus fronts the Dahan River and backs onto Banping Mountain, sitting directly on the 大鶯路 corridor that connects Daxi Old Street to Yingge Old Street, along the Dahan River bike path.
中興國小創立於1921年（大正10年）5月18日，原為員樹林公學校的分教場，1928年獨立設校，1945年定名為中興國民學校。學校曾舉辦建校百年校慶，並獲教育部長讚譽為全國前五名的小型學校。校園面向大漢溪，背倚半坪山，坐落於連接大溪老街與鶯歌老街的大鶯路廊帶上，緊鄰大漢溪自行車道。
