Xin-Pu Elementary was planned under then-Tong-An Elementary principal Lü Zheng-nan beginning August 1, 2004, and officially opened for enrollment on August 1, 2005 under founding principal Zhao Guan-rong. It was created specifically to relieve overcrowding at three neighboring schools — Tong-An, Tzu-Wen, and Hui-Ji — as the surrounding residential population grew. Now on its fourth principal, Tsai Ming-han, the school is branded a "雙語亮點學校" (Bilingual Spotlight School) known for an immersive English-teaching approach.
新埔國小的籌設工作於民國93年（2004年）8月1日起由時任同安國小校長呂正南負責推動，民國94年（2005年）8月1日正式招生開學，首任校長為趙冠榮。設校目的是為紓解同安、慈文、會稽三校因周邊人口成長而面臨的爆滿壓力。學校現任第四任校長蔡明翰，並獲認證為「雙語亮點學校」，以沉浸式英語教學聞名。
