Its "西門樓" (Ximen Building) classroom block recently underwent a three-year reconstruction, delayed by COVID-19 and materials shortages, and was completed and inaugurated by the Taoyuan mayor in a ceremony covered by national media.
西門國小於民國61年（1972年）8月自南門國小學區分出，因該學區人口成長壓力過大，隔年（1973年）8月正式獨立設校，至今已逾50年歷史。校內「西門樓」教室大樓近年歷經三年重建工程，期間因疫情與建材短缺而延宕，完工後由桃園市長主持啟用典禮，獲全國媒體報導。
