Taoyuan Elementary traces its origin to a Mandarin-language instruction branch — "國語傳習所桃仔園分教場" — established inside Taoyuan's historic Wenchang Temple (文昌宮) on October 1, 1897, meaning the school's very first classroom was a room inside a temple that still stands in Taoyuan today. It was renamed multiple times through the Japanese era and postwar period: 桃仔園公學校 (1898) → 桃園公學校 (1905) → a new campus built at its current site (1916) → 武陵國民學校 (1941) → 桃園中心國民學校 (1945). Today the school has roughly 1,000 students and 74 teachers under Principal Yang Ya-zhen, with the motto "卓越傳承" (Excellence and Heritage).
桃園國小的歷史源自1897年（明治30年）10月1日在文昌宮內設立的「國語傳習所桃仔園分教場」——換言之，學校最初的教室正是至今仍矗立於桃園的文昌宮內一室。歷經日治與戰後多次更名：1898年改稱桃仔園公學校，1905年改稱桃園公學校，1916年遷至現址新校舍，1941年改名武陵國民學校，1945年再改名桃園中心國民學校。如今全校約有1,000名學生、74位教師，現任校長楊雅真，校訓「卓越傳承」。
