社子國小創立於1970年（民國59年），至今仍是新屋區規模較小的學校之一，全校約57名學生，每個年級一個班加上一個幼兒園班，共約10位教師任教。地理位置上，學校北望新屋市區，南接富岡車站，西臨永安漁港，四周皆為農田環繞，正處於新屋內陸農業與沿海漁業交會的地理樞紐。
