A Hakka-language powerhouse beside the tracks.
Ruiyuan Junior High began in 1972 as the Shuimei branch campus of Taoyuan County Yangmei Junior High, gaining independence in 1976 under the name Taoyuan County Ruiyuan Junior High. It took its current name, Taoyuan City Ruiyuan Junior High, in December 2015. Located in Yangmei's Shuimei area right beside the main north-south rail line, the school has built a strong reputation in Hakka-language arts, with students and teachers regularly earning top results in national Hakka spoken-arts, recitation, and drama competitions, and once ranking first nationwide for Hakka-certification group registrations.
