Growing out of Taoyuan's expanding south side.

Long-Shan Elementary became independent in 1976 from "中山國小龍山分校" (Zhongshan Elementary's Longshan Branch), which itself had been upgraded from a smaller "龍山分班" class in 1969. The school's over-50-year-old "春風樓" (Spring Breeze Building) classroom block is currently being demolished and rebuilt in a NT$240 million project — NT$161.32 million funded by the Ministry of Education and NT$78.68 million by Taoyuan City — with the rebuild also adding a new non-profit preschool.

Growth spreading south from Zhongshan.

🐉

Like the "龍山" (Dragon Mountain) namesake temples found across Taiwan, the school's name reflects a common auspicious place-naming tradition; locally it emerged directly from the growth of the historic 中山國小 school zone as Taoyuan District's population expanded southward in the 1970s. See the Taoyuan county page for more on the region.
