Fuyuan Elementary began as the 'Tukeng branch school' (兔坑分校) of Guishan Elementary, established on September 1, 1954. It became an independent school on March 31, 1961. Fuyuan is one of four historical branch schools that split off from the original Guishan Elementary over the 20th century, alongside Shoushan, Dagang, and Longshou elementary schools — placing it within the oldest layer of Guishan's public education network.
