Beside Daxi's Old Street.
Daxi Elementary traces back to 1897, when local gentry Lu Yingyang, Lu Jianbang, and others petitioned to establish a “Taipei Mandarin Training Institute Dakekan Branch” on the old Xinnan Street, formalized in 1898 as Dakekan Public School. Over 125 years old, it is one of Taoyuan's most historic schools. Its Japanese-era teachers' dormitory is a registered historic building under Taiwan's Cultural Heritage system, and the school has carried a succession of names tracking Taiwan's history before celebrating its 120th anniversary in 2017.
