Cheng-Gong Elementary was founded on August 31, 1957 as "桃園校縣成功國民學校," and renamed 桃園縣桃園市成功國民小學 in July 1968. One of the district's flagship postwar schools, it was established the same year as several other core Taoyuan City schools, part of the mid-20th-century wave of school construction that filled out the historic city-center grid after World War II. Today it is best known for its all-students robotics-education curriculum, alongside strong programs in language arts, reading, music, and PE.
成功國小創立於民國46年（1957年）8月31日，初名「桃園校縣成功國民學校」，於民國57年（1968年）7月更名為「桃園縣桃園市成功國民小學」。作為桃園區戰後創立的指標學校之一，其設校年份與多所桃園市核心學校相同，是二戰後填補舊城區學校網絡的重要一環。如今學校以全校性機器人教育課程聞名，同時在語文、閱讀、音樂與體育方面亦表現優異。
