Over a century old, in the village of the Five-Year Ceremony.

Tuban Elementary was founded in 1910 during the Japanese colonial era as the "Kama Educational Institute" (噶媽教育所), and has been renamed multiple times since — among the oldest Indigenous-serving schools anywhere in Taitung County. In 2017 it was converted into "Tuban Vusam Culture Experimental Elementary School." Its 1998 campus incorporates Paiwan cultural motifs, including the hundred-pace snake emblem and traditional pottery jar designs. "Vusam" is a Paiwan word meaning chieftain, heir, or seed-stock — a name chosen deliberately for a school in Tuban Village, which is renowned for preserving the Maljeveq, or Five-Year Ceremony, one of the most intact ritual traditions in Paiwan culture.
