From a language school to a baseball powerhouse.
Sinsheng Elementary's history stretches back to May 18, 1897, when it opened as a branch of the Taitung Japanese-Language Training Institute serving the Amis Malan settlement. It was renamed Malan National School in 1927, became Taitung County Sinsheng National School in 1946, and took its current name in 1968. Today the school is best known nationally for its Little League baseball program, founded in the 1970s, which has produced more than 40 professional players, including stars like Yang Chien-fu and Chen Chun-Hsiu.
新生國小校史可追溯至明治30年（1897年）5月18日，最初為台東國語傳習所馬蘭社分教場，服務阿美族馬蘭部落。民國16年（1927年）更名為馬蘭國民學校，民國35年（1946年）改稱台東縣新生國民學校，民國57年（1968年）定為現名。如今學校最為人稱道的是創立於1970年代的少棒隊，已培育出楊建夫、陳峻岫等四十多位職棒選手。
