Daxi Elementary sits in Duoliang Village along the South-Link Highway, its campus perched on coastal cliffs looking straight out over the Pacific Ocean. It is one of Taitung's smallest schools, with enrollment typically in the range of 35 to 52 students plus a kindergarten class, and it serves a largely Paiwan Indigenous community, many of them from low-income households. Despite its size, the school offers baseball and Indigenous folk-song programs, and it has drawn national attention for milestones as intimate as a graduation ceremony with only a single incoming student.
