An inland school, half Amis in heritage.
Beiyuan Elementary began in 1947 as a branch of Taiyuan Elementary School, becoming independent a decade later in 1957, and took its current name in 1968. It is designated an Indigenous-focus school, and roughly half the residents of its school district are Amis. The campus sits inland in the Taiyuan valley area of the Coastal Mountain Range, away from Donghe's famous surf coast but still within the township's broader Amis cultural territory.

🎓 A Designated Indigenous-Focus School
原住民重點學校
With roughly half its district's residents Amis, Beiyuan holds official Indigenous-focus status, shaping how the school integrates cultural content into daily learning.
🏞️ Inland in the Taiyuan Valley
泰源溪谷內陸
Unlike Donghe's famous coastal villages, Beiyuan sits inland within the Coastal Mountain Range's Taiyuan valley — a quieter, more secluded setting for its students.
📜 Nearly Eight Decades of Growth
近八十年校史
From its 1947 origins as a branch school to independence in 1957, Beiyuan has grown into an established part of the Taiyuan valley community.
Amis heritage inland from the surf coast.
Donghe Township (東河鄉) is best known abroad for its coastal Amis Indigenous villages and surf beaches, but Beiyuan Elementary sits further inland, in the Taiyuan valley — still within Amis cultural territory, but shaped more by the Coastal Mountain Range than the sea.
