A school split by a new road.
Yongle Elementary traces its lineage to the 1896-established Taipei Mandarin Training Institute, becoming independent on its current site in 1910 as Dadaocheng Girls' Public School (大稻埕女子公學校) — the earlier of two dates recorded for the school. The school was renamed Taipei Datong District Yongle National Elementary School in March 1989 after Taipei's administrative-district reorganization. It split from Taiping/Dadaocheng's original public school when Yanping N. Road was cut through the district in 1909, dividing the original school site in two — the east side became today's Taiping Elementary. Yongle now runs a dedicated "Dadaocheng" thematic curriculum website (大稻埕主題式網頁), explicitly teaching students about the historic tea- and dry-goods-trading street culture surrounding the school.

✂️ Split by a New Road
因延平北路開闢而分校
The 1909 construction of Yanping N. Road through the district split the original school site in two; its east side became today's Taiping Elementary.
🏫 Independent in 1910
1910年獨立設校
Tracing to the 1896 Taipei Mandarin Training Institute lineage, the school became independent as Dadaocheng Girls' Public School in 1910.
🔄 Renamed Under Datong
更名為永樂國小
The school was renamed Taipei Datong District Yongle National Elementary School in March 1989, following the city's administrative reorganization.
Inside the historic old street.
Yongle Elementary runs its own dedicated "Dadaocheng" heritage educational website and sits directly inside the historic Dadaocheng old street district — arguably the strongest direct curricular tie to local tea-trade and old-street culture of any school in Datong District. Students here learn their neighborhood's merchant history as part of the regular school curriculum, not as an occasional field trip.
