Yong'an Elementary School

Yong'an Elementary School is widely described as Taiwan's first public elementary school built from the ground up around "open education" (開放教育) principles. After five years of planning, it opened in 2000 in the Dazhi land-readjustment zone. Its distinctive campus architecture uses flexible "class-cluster" (班群) spaces without fixed classroom boundaries, designed to support student-centered, cross-class learning rather than a traditional single-classroom model.

The school was deliberately planned together with adjacent Mingshui Park as an integrated "community school," blending campus and public park space — a product of Zhongshan District's late-20th-century Dazhi-area urban planning wave, alongside neighboring Binjiang and Dajia schools. Yong'an celebrated its 20th anniversary in December 2019.

永安國小普遍被視為臺灣第一所從無到有、專為「開放教育」理念設計興建的公立國小。經過五年規劃，學校於2000年（民國89年）在大直土地重劃區開校。校園建築特色為採用彈性「班群」空間、不設固定教室隔間，旨在支持以學生為中心、跨班級的學習模式，而非傳統單一教室配置。

學校特意與鄰近的明水公園整體規劃，打造融合校園與公共綠地的「社區學校」——這正是大直地區1990年代末都市規劃浪潮下的產物，與鄰近的濱江、大佳等校同屬一批。2019年（民國108年）12月，永安國小舉辦二十週年校慶。
