Taoyuan Junior High was founded in July 1973, originally combined with an elementary division under the name "Taipei Municipal Taoyuan Elementary and Junior High School." It split into a standalone junior high in 1981. Today the school runs a program linked to the International Baccalaureate (IB), promoted on its own dedicated site page, and sits along the Zhongyang North Road corridor that leads toward Guandu and the Yangmingshan foothills.
桃源國中創校於民國62年（1973年）7月，初期與國小部合併設立，稱為「臺北市立桃源國民中小學」，於民國70年（1981年）分設為獨立國中。學校現設有與IB國際文憑相關的課程，並於官網另闢專頁介紹「桃源國中與IB」。校址位於中央北路沿線，通往關渡與陽明山麓方向。
