Shuangxi Elementary School is located on Zhongshe Road Section 2, in the Waishuangxi (Outer Shuangxi) area near the National Palace Museum and Zhishan Junior High. The school is named for its position along the Outer Shuangxi (雙溪) stream, one of the two streams that give the "Shuangxi" (twin streams) area its name. This Shilin campus is a completely separate, unrelated school from a much older, similarly-named Shuangxi Elementary School founded in 1898 in New Taipei City's Shuangxi District — the two should not be confused despite sharing a name.
雙溪國小位於中社路二段，坐落於外雙溪流域，鄰近國立故宮博物院及至善國中。校名取自「外雙溪」——雙溪地區得名的兩條溪流之一。特別說明：本校（士林）與新北市雙溪區一所創立於1898年、歷史悠久的同名「雙溪國小」完全無關，是兩所各自獨立的學校，不應混淆。
