Sanxing Elementary School was founded in August 1955 under founding principal Xi Huizhen. Its name honors both its location in the historic "Sanzhangli" (三張犁) area and its parent school, Xingya Elementary — "Sanxing" (三興) combines characters meaning "to commemorate" and "Xingya." Near Taipei Medical University and the Linjiang Street ("Tonghua") Night Market, the school played an outsized role in Xinyi's mid-century growth: in 1968 it transferred its 4th- and 5th-grade students to help found the newly created Guangfu Elementary School, and in 1969 it sent 22 more classes to help populate Wuxing Elementary School — seeding two other Xinyi elementary schools in the space of two years.
三興國小創立於1955年（民國44年）8月，首任校長席慧珍。校名取自校址所在的歷史地名「三張犁」，並紀念其母校興雅國小之「興」字，合為「三興」。學校鄰近臺北醫學大學與臨江街（通化）夜市。三興在信義區1960年代人口激增期間扮演重要角色：1968年撥出四、五年級學生協助創立光復國小，1969年再撥出22班學生協助吳興國小成立，兩年內接連孕育出兩所鄰校。
