An architect-designed campus beside Sulfur Creek.
Mingde Junior High was founded in 1968 under its first principal, Huang Zhong-xing. Its campus was designed by the noted architect Hsiu Tse-lan, whose distinctive modernist school buildings are found across Taiwan. The school's name — like sister schools Xinmin Junior High and Zhishan Junior High — is drawn from the opening line of the Confucian classic The Great Learning. Mingde celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2017 with an alumni-focused event titled "明德武林,飛耀50" ("Mingde Wulin, Soaring 50").
