Jiuzhuang Elementary was founded in September 1955 as "臺北縣南港鎮南港國校舊莊分校," a branch of Nangang Elementary. It became independent as "臺北縣南港鎮舊莊國民學校" in September 1958, and held a belated formal opening ceremony in June 1959, with the ribbon cut personally by Dr. Hu Shih, who lived nearby at Academia Sinica until his death in 1962. It is one of two schools split off from the original Nangang Elementary, alongside Yucheng Elementary.
