A landmark campus beside a national memorial.
Guangfu Elementary School was founded in 1964 under founding principal Zhang Dengwang, opening with about 200 students who initially had no building of their own, borrowing classrooms from Xingya and Sanxing Elementary Schools. The government expropriated land for a permanent campus in March 1965, and the first phase of construction was completed by 1966–1967. The school celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2024 with a citywide-covered ceremony and sports exhibition.

🏯 Beside the National Memorial Hall
緊鄰國父紀念館
The campus sits immediately beside the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, with an unusually deep, ceremonial entrance drive atypical for Taipei elementary schools.
From munitions depot to civic landmark.
Sitting directly beside the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall — itself built on land that was part of a former Japanese-era military arsenal and munitions depot before Xinyi's redevelopment — Guangfu Elementary's prominent architecture and location tie it to the same land-use transformation from military and industrial use to the civic and financial district Xinyi is today. See the Taipei city page for more on the region.
