Taipei's first bilingual elementary school.
Dongxin Elementary opened in July 1985, after a preparatory office was established in August 1983 under founding principal Zhou Nai-wen. In August 2017, it became Taipei City's first elementary school to run a bilingual experimental curriculum, a distinction it has held ever since. The school celebrated its 30th anniversary in November 2016 and underwent a full campus rebuild, breaking ground in June 2019 with the main building's occupancy permit issued in April 2022 and the sports field's in July 2023.
東新國小於民國74年（1985年）7月創校，前一年（民國72年）8月成立籌備處，首任校長為周迺文。民國106年（2017年）8月，東新國小成為全台北市第一所推動雙語實驗課程的國小，並持續保有此一先驅地位至今。學校於民國105年（2016年）11月歡慶三十週年校慶，並於民國108年（2019年）6月動工進行全面校舍重建，主建築於民國111年（2022年）4月取得使用執照，運動場則於民國112年（2023年）7月完工。
