Taipei's first bilingual elementary school.
Dongxin Elementary opened in July 1985, after a preparatory office was established in August 1983 under founding principal Zhou Nai-wen. In August 2017, it became Taipei City's first elementary school to run a bilingual experimental curriculum, a distinction it has held ever since. The school celebrated its 30th anniversary in November 2016 and underwent a full campus rebuild, breaking ground in June 2019 with the main building's occupancy permit issued in April 2022 and the sports field's in July 2023.
東新國小於民國74年(1985年)7月創校,前一年(民國72年)8月成立籌備處,首任校長為周迺文。民國106年(2017年)8月,東新國小成為全台北市第一所推動雙語實驗課程的國小,並持續保有此一先驅地位至今。學校於民國105年(2016年)11月歡慶三十週年校慶,並於民國108年(2019年)6月動工進行全面校舍重建,主建築於民國111年(2022年)4月取得使用執照,運動場則於民國112年(2023年)7月完工。
