Dongmen Elementary School

Dongmen Elementary School was founded in June 1896 under Japanese rule as a school for Japanese children, only a year after Japan took control of Taiwan — making it one of the earliest modern schools established on the island. In 1905 it moved to a new campus just outside the old East Gate (景福門, "Jingfu Gate") of Taipei's city wall, which gives the school its present name. It was renamed repeatedly through the Japanese era before becoming "Dongmen National Elementary School" in 1946 and adopting its current district-qualified name in 1990. In 1981, the school launched one of Taiwan's earliest dance-education experimental programs, enrolling 30 students in a dedicated dance class.

東門國小創立於明治29年（1896年）6月，日治時期原為日籍學童設立，此時距日本統治台灣僅一年，是台灣最早設立的現代化學校之一。1905年遷至清代台北城牆「景福門」（東門）外新校址，本校名稱即由此而來。日治時期歷經多次更名，1946年定名「東門國民學校」，1990年改為現今冠以行政區之校名。1981年，本校招收30名學生開辦全台最早期的舞蹈實驗班之一。
